To the delight of all of our history buffs (and we have quite a few here), we had some very interesting visitors recently who gave a wonderful presentation about America’s Buffalo Soldiers. The Buffalo Soldiers were African-American soldiers who served mainly on the Western frontier following the Civil War. In 1866, six all-black cavalry and infantry regiments were created after Congress passed the Army Organization Act. These men were the first African-American soldiers to serve during peacetime.
